Vario side cases for BMW R1300GS 2023+

The design of the Vario cases and the Vario top case has been completely revamped. Anodized aluminum strips on the outer side of the cases, as well as on the outer side and lid of the Vario top case not only provide a robust foundation but also harmoniously integrate with the design of the new BMW R 1300 GS together with the black plastic cover.

Vario cases and the Vario top case with integrated charging option and lighting, as well as integration into the remote central locking system, provide maximum comfort.
In terms of technology and functionality, the new case system sets new standards. Another interesting feature is that the new system is now electrified. From now on, electronic devices such as phones, tablets, or laptops can be charged in the left Vario case. There is a USB-A power port that allows charging via the onboard network with a power output of up to 15 W (5 V/3 A). Another USB-A port is located in the top case. In addition, the integrated lighting in the Vario cases makes loading and unloading at night very convenient.

Another novelty is that all three Vario cases are integrated into the standard remote central locking of the new BMW R 1300 GS. The Vario case system additionally includes mechanical keys that can be used to unlock and lock the cases – for example, in case of loss of the remote control.

Continuous adjustment of internal volume for the best possible use of all storage space.
The volume setting of the Vario cases and the Vario top case can now be continuously adjusted with a manual wheel (previously in two stages). This means that the new BMW R 1300 GS is as wide or high as necessary regarding the required storage space.

In total, the new Vario case system offers a volume of up to 97 liters. By expanding the cases, the storage volume increases from approximately 49 l by a maximum of approximately 5.5 l for each of them. The storage volume of the top case increases from 28 to a maximum of 36 l.

Additional luggage can be stored on the side cases and top case using practical attachment loops.
For example, a BMW 7 helmet can be stored in the Vario case system (left Vario case and Vario top case), and a BMW GS helmet fits in the Vario top case. The maximum load for one case is 10 kg on each side, while the maximum load for the Vario top case is set at 6 kg. In total, a load of 26 kg can be accommodated.

Additionally, luggage can also be stored on the outer side of the Vario cases and the Vario top case. Up to 1 kg can be attached to the side of each case and an additional 2 kg to the top case. It is recommended to use tension straps to secure additional luggage. For this purpose, fastening loops are located on the lid of the Vario top case. Fastening loops are also located on the sides of the Vario cases.

Practical Vario internal bags are available as original accessories from BMW Motorrad.
As part of the BMW Motorrad Original Accessories, additional Vario internal bags are available for the Vario case system of the new BMW R 1300 GS. The volume of the internal bags is as follows:

- left case: 21.5–28.9 l

- right case: 21.3–26.8 l

- top case: 24.8–33 l

For each Vario case, there is a large main internal bag and a smaller additional bag that can be placed freely on the main bag in the case. The additional bag can also be used as a small handbag, for example, for a stop at a café. The main bag for the left Vario case has a padded compartment for electronic devices with a cable outlet to the charging port USB. The internal bag of the Vario top case consists of a large main bag with a volume of up to 33 l.
